About the Residency
Jillat – Sami Dance Center invites circus artists to a one-week outdoor residency at the Skájdde Festival in Storforsen, Älvsbyn Municipality. Set against the stunning natural backdrop of the Storforsen Nature Reserve, this residency offers a chance for artists to develop their circus work in a unique outdoor environment, blending art with nature.
The residency includes full access to the nature reserve, providing the opportunity to experiment with outdoor circus performance, as well as travel, accommodation, and food covered by Jillat. In addition, each artist will be assisted by one dedicated volunteer to support their work throughout the residency.
This residency is a perfect fit for artists wanting to explore circus performance in a natural setting, engage with a festival audience, and connect with the local community.

We welcome applications from:
Circus artists of all disciplines, including aerialists, acrobats, and movement-based performers.
Solo artists, duos, or small circus companies who wish to perform and create in an outdoor environment.
Artists interested in engaging with the natural surroundings and blending their work with the landscape.
Facilities & Technical Information
Outdoor space in the Skájdde Festival area, with access to natural features such as forests, rivers, and open fields.
Volunteer support will be available for any logistical help, including setup, equipment handling, and performance preparation.
Technical support for any outdoor rigging or equipment setup will be provided on request.
How to Apply
Interested artists can apply by submitting:
A short video presentation (max 5 minutes) where you present yourself and why you want to apply.
A short project description (max 500 words) outlining your creative focus and how you plan to engage with the outdoor environment.
A brief bio highlighting your experience in circus performance.
Relevant work samples (videos or links showcasing previous circus projects).
