Research Residency 16th of November - 29th of November
Jillat – Sami Dance Center

Jillat – Sami Dance Center announces a two-week research residency for professional dance artists and groups from Sápmi and other Indigenous contexts.

The residency offers time and space for artistic research, exploration and process-based development within a dedicated dance environment in Sápmi.

Purpose
This residency is intended for artists who wish to:
Develop new choreographic ideas
Explore movement language, dramaturgy or methodology
Engage with Indigenous perspectives in contemporary dance
Work without immediate production pressure
The focus is on deep artistic process rather than finished outcomes.

About Jillat
Jillat – Sami Dance Center, located in Vuollerim, is the world’s first Sami dance center. It functions as a platform for dance from Sápmi and for Indigenous-led artistic development within the performing arts.

The studio is a white space with natural light from ceiling and side windows. It is not a black box. Artists are encouraged to consider how daylight, landscape and place may influence their work.

Period
Two-week research residency
Week 43–44
