Sápmi Dance Network
Sápmi Dance Network is a unique collaboration connecting professional Sami dancers and choreographers from across the Nordic countries. Through physical gatherings, digital meetings, workshops, and knowledge exchanges, the network creates a vibrant community, promoting Sami contemporary dance and strengthening its recognition throughout the Nordic region and beyond.
Sápmi Dance Network is a Nordic collaboration aiming to strengthen and develop contemporary Sami dance art. The network serves as a creative meeting place for professional Sami dancers and other dance artists from Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Through physical and digital meetings, workshops, and knowledge exchanges, we aim to highlight and promote Sami dance, enhance opportunities for professional growth, and establish new, long-term collaborations across national borders.
Our goals are to:
Develop and strengthen the status of contemporary Sami dance nationally and internationally.
Facilitate cross-border artistic collaborations.
Share and further develop methods for integrating Sami cultural heritage into contemporary artistic practices.
Offer skill development and create new platforms for knowledge exchange.
