Jillat Exploratory Residency (21 June – 5 July 2026)

Jillat Exploratory Residency | 21 June – 5 July 2026 | Vuollerim, Jokkmokk
Municipality
Research, reflection and exchange in connection with the Arctic Arts Summit 2026

Jillat invites Indigenous artists from Arctic regions outside Sápmi to apply for a two-week exploratory residency in Jillat, Vuollerim, taking place in connection with the Arctic Arts Summit 2026 (Jillat is a co-
organizer and leads the summit’s dance strand).

This residency is intentionally research-led rather than production-driven. It is a space for early-stage
exploration: to investigate movement practices, artistic questions, cultural and political urgencies,
potential collaborations, and new directions—without pressure to deliver a finished work.

The exploratory residency is especially suited to artists who want time to listen, test, and reflect: to digest
ideas sparked by the summit, to experiment in the studio, and to explore how place, relations, and
circumpolar Indigenous knowledge can inform future dance and performance work.

There is no requirement to produce a completed piece. Instead, we invite residents to propose a gentle
form of sharing at the end of the period—something that fits the nature of research and respects your
process.
