Residency Collaboration: Dans i Nord / Jillat – Sami Dance Center

Dans i Nord, in dialogue with Jillat – Sami Dance Center, announces a two-week production residency at Dans i Nord’s facilities in Piteå (Week 44-45).
This residency is intended for artists who are in a production phase and require concentrated working time in studio.

Purpose
The production residency supports the realisation and finalization of choreographic work. It allows artists to consolidate research, refine material and prepare work for presentation.
By linking Jillat and Dans i Nord, the collaboration enables extended production periods and strengthens structural conditions for Indigenous dance artists in the region.

Context
The initiative forms part of a long-term model for residency collaboration between a regional dance institution and an Indigenous-led dance centre. It aims to:
Expand working conditions for dance artists from Sápmi and other Indigenous contexts
Develop sustainable collaboration models within Norrbotten
Increase artistic diversity in the professional dance field

Week 44-45
Presentation Opportunity
The residency period is structured to connect with public presentations at Jillat – Sami Dance Center on 13–14 November.

Who Can Apply
Professional choreographers, dance artists and dance groups from Sápmi and other Indigenous contexts working within contemporary dance who are in an active production phase.

Studio space at Dans i Nord in Piteå
Accommodation for up to 7 persons
Technical dialogue in preparation for sharing or presentation
Connection to regional and Indigenous networks
Further details regarding technical support, fees and travel will be agreed upon with selected artists.
