About the event

"ÅVLA is a Sámi joiker, singer, and multidisciplinary artist whose work intertwines traditional joik with contemporary soundscapes. Drawing on the deep roots of Sámi culture, he explores how ancient vocal traditions can resonate within modern artistic contexts.

Singing in South Sámi — an endangered Indigenous language — ÅVLA gives voice to stories of belonging, landscape, and identity, while also reflecting on what it means to navigate between tradition and modernity.

His music moves across genres, blending organic and electronic elements to create an atmospheric and emotionally charged sound. Through his compositions and performances, ÅVLA invites listeners to experience the living continuity of Sámi culture — where memory, land, and sound meet in the present moment."

Jillat is open from 6.00pm where you can buy with drinks and snacks before the show.
