About the event

Human trafficking across continents. Families torn apart in the name of civilization. Suppression of language and culture. Racial biology research.

Our shared scar tissue in the Nordic countries is painful.

Between soil, plants, and glass, the past and present of Nordic colonialism emerge in an encounter between the personal, the historical, the factual, and the emotional.

The work unfolds within an installation by Sámi artist Stina Aletta Aikio. In a living landscape, a vulnerable conversation opens between us, within a sensory space where dialogue extends beyond the spoken word. Performers and audience move, shape, dissolve, and recreate the earth, while words, bodies, and landscape merge in a gradual transformation, where encounters between materials and people create new connections.

The work was produced in 2022/23 with support from the Danish Arts Foundation, Arts Council Norway, the Nordic Culture Fund, NAPA, the Augustinus Foundation, the Danish Composers’ Society, among others.
