Two weeks dance residency at Jillat in Vuollerim, Jokkmokk Municipality. Includes a scholarship, access to the dance studio, travel, accommodation and food.

Two-Week Dance Residency at Jillat – Sami Dance Center
A fully funded opportunity for dancers and choreographers to create, explore, and connect in the heart of Sápmi.

About the Residency
Jillat – Sami Dance Center offers a two-week residency for dancers and choreographers at its unique dance facility in Vuollerim, Jokkmokk Municipality. This residency provides an immersive space for artistic research, movement exploration, and creative development, surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of northern Sweden. The residency doesn't have a set date, we are open to find a time that suits with the artist that get the residency during 2025.

Artists in residence will receive a scholarship to support their artistic work, in addition to fully covered travel, accommodation, and food, which will be arranged through Jillat’s travel partners. Full access to the dance studio is also included, providing an ideal space for research and creation. Whether you are developing a new project, refining your practice, or collaborating with others, this residency offers a focused and inspiring environment.

What You Get

A scholarship to support your artistic work. 10.000SEK/person for maximum two artists.
Travel, accommodation, and food fully covered and arranged by Jillat.
Full access to Jillat’s dance studio, featuring a professional dance floor with heating, high ceilings, and an inspiring atmosphere.
A dedicated creative space in a peaceful, nature-rich setting, ideal for deep artistic work.
Opportunities for collaboration with other artists within Jillat’s creative network.

Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from:

Professional and emerging dancers and choreographers working in contemporary dance, experimental movement, or interdisciplinary performance.
Solo artists, duos, or small groups looking for a space to develop new work or refine existing material.
Artists with a strong artistic vision who are interested in exploring movement in connection with landscape, identity, and storytelling.

Facilities & Technical Information
Dance studio: Spacious and well-equipped, suitable for contemporary dance, experimental movement, and physical theater.
Flooring: Dance floor, designed for professional movement practices.
Stage area: Available for informal sharings, work-in-progress showings, or digital documentation.
Technical support: Available on request for sound, lighting, or film recording.

How to Apply
Interested artists can apply by submitting:
A short video presentation (max 5 minutes) where you present yourself and why you want to apply.
A short project description (max 500 words) outlining your artistic focus and what you plan to work on.
A brief bio highlighting your experience in dance and choreography.
Relevant work samples (videos or links showcasing previous dance projects).
