Safe spaces for creation

At our opening of Jillat in November 2024, we had a panel talk regarding safe spaces for creation and one of the participants, Marit Shirin Carolasdotter also thought this was an important question to adress when opening up a place for artists to create. We were discussing the importance of this subject, especially when working with indigenous groups. She is project manager of a two year residency project Jårrh! that is a collaboration between the Sami cultural center Aejlies and Riksteatern. Today we are invited to Aejlies in Tärnaby for a workshop and presentation on this subject, since both our organizations has been working hard to identify what makes the spaces more safe, and we have practical knowledge from working in this context for some time. The result of this meeting will be a start of a material that both artists and programmers can benefit from and we are looking forward to a very important gathering.
